Some coffee?

on boylston street, when there were a lot of people out on the streets....
in cars, on strollers, sometimes even in the couch... everywhere there are cupholders for your beverage. i do think thats a very american thing.... :)
and your beverage of course goes into a plastic/carton cup (disregarding the few that "go green" and bring their own) that you can trash afterwards. often the coffees/ ice-coffees are sooo huge (and in case of iced coffee with sooo much ice!), i always wonder whether people finish them entirely...
and nope, that was not my cup... although.. whenever i have to give my name, i always say cat (and sometimes even spell it), but almost always it will come back as Kat, which i never understood (kat is actually the dutch spelling for cat; the pet). but then a real american explained me its because many girls go by kathy, with a K.

Yes, I agree with you about those stupid huge coffees and always in a throw away cup. They can much learn from the European way, just sit and relax and take another (little) one.

I'm drinking coffee as I type this, but it's in a mug...am I safe or just another typical American ;-)?
Out of curiosity, how does one qualify as a "real american?"
Starbucks charges way too much money for coffee that isn't that good...just my opinion.

you are safe! :) when buying coffee i also never have my own mug. but i have to say, i hardly buy coffee as i do not really like the coffee here.. indeed, also especially not in the starbucks. then you order a single or double espresso (which is the only thing i take, if ever), and then you get it in a far too large paper cup so that it is cold too soon...

a real american is anyone who was born here, in my opinion! :) i dont mean it bad... but thinking that any western country is comparable; really not so. so many things (subtle things) i only understand after a "real american" explained me the background of it..!

(like why they write Kat even if i spell it as Cat)

if you're proud to be one, you are a true american. And in my book, you don't need a passport, you just need to love America. And be religious and born with a starbux cup in your hand.

eh? why religious?
