Aiming for....

... the sky! this is close to the supermarket in chelsea. it was last week, and i didnt yet want to go into the most likely overcrowded supermarket. the light outside was soo beautiful and for sure it would be dark when finally done shopping. so we left the parking lot and the first thing i saw where these cherry pickers (in dutch its "hoogwerker", i looked up this word on www.interglot.com, and got hydraulic hoist, lifting ramp and cherry picker. i then searched for google images and only cherry picker gave me the above pictured ones. so, i go for cherry picker, although it sounds weird to me). there was a high fence and i had to climb onto a piece of crash barrier, holding myself onto the fence. the wind was going like crazy and it was really cold, but the sky was so beautiful!!
actually, the dutch news recently had a funny story; a thief tried to steal a bike, but the owner caught him. he then asked some nearby workers for help. they put the thief in their cherry picker, and then drove it, with the thief high up in the sky, to the police. the thief later said he found that tour through the city rather humiliating, hahahaha!
interglot.com i find very useful; so often there a words i dont know. or for synonyms... for all the non-dutch; interglot will tell you why, as a dutch, the cherry picker with "lull" on it, to the left, made me laugh (just remove the last letter before you interglot it! or am i too old to laugh about something like that... ?)

It seems that with these machines we will be able to touch the sky...

you can go out to run or simply to read a book, Cat!

Ha,ha,ha a funny story, you are never to old to laugh about silly words. I can't imagine to pick cherry's with a machine like this. We pick cats from trees with it here. Along the A6 to Almere I always see these too from the car, it is always a strange look those machines reaching into the air. Never made a photo of them, but you did great!

Haha I read the story about the bike thief. :) Crazy! Interglot is great, I use it a lot lately, with my pregnant brain that keeps forgetting stuff...

The pic is gorgeous btw, I love it when the sky goes all ominous like that. (You don't want to know how many around-sunset and bad weather pics I have on my computer....)

Yes! Just a fabulous sky and the rigs attempting to touch the sky.

We have included your blog in our guide Around The World.

The guide is both a record of old blogs and a listing of new blogs. Although originally arising from the "City Daily Photo Blog" lists this is an independent publication. Inclusion here does not imply that a blog qualifies for nor is officially a CDPB. Our criteria are that photographs mainly from and related to a specific geographical location (not necessarily a "city" but usually more specific than a whole country or region) are posted at dated intervals (not necessarily daily) and archives are kept which are readily searchable by date.

Please keep us informed of any changes to your details.

This makes a fabulous sky picture and the lifts are nice too. I just put up my second movie on YouTube this morning that shows some of the things I do in Photoshop and some photos I liked too.

I called hubby in to ask what those were and he called them aerial boom lifts. So there is another one for the list of names.
Your story literally made me laugh out loud. That would be funny to see the thief like that!
