in california we drove a bit through the desert (i like that so much!), and the cacti were blooming, so very pretty! so red, yellow and purple..

Beautiful, you can't imagine it can bloom in a desert surrounding.
Lucky you! My favorite is this blooming cactus. If you time it right in Death Valley (and there's been enough rain) you can drive for miles next to fields of yellow or purple wildflowers. It's unbelievably beautiful.
